Rwanda is home to 4 unique national parks which offers different wildlife experiences;

  • Volcanoes National Park - This is a world-renowned park for gorilla trekking and home to the endangered golden monkey and silverback gorilla. Its volcanic landscapes and lush forests make it one of Africa's most iconic destinations.
  • Akagera National Park - This is Rwanda's only savannah park, where visitors get to enjoy classic game drives and boat safaries to see the Big 5 (lions, leopards, elephants, black and white rhinos, and buffaloes), giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocodiles and a rich variety of birdlife.
  • Nyungwe National Park - This is one of Africa's oldest rainforests, famous for chimpanzee trekking and has a spectacular canopy walkway with over 300 bird species and a diverse plant and primate life.
  • Gishwati Mukura National Park - This park is made up of 2 forests, the smaller being Mukura and the larger being Gishwati. It is home to chimpanzees, L'Hoest's, golden and blue monkeys.
