Cricket in Rwanda

Cricket in Rwanda is a growing sport, with Cricket Builds Hope (CBH) having played a significant role in its growth. Through its work in Rwanda, CBH has helped create opportunities for more people to engage with cricket and expand access to the game across the country. Founded in memory of the late British businessman Christopher Shale in 2011, the charity helped raise funds for the construction of the Gahanga Cricket Stadium, the country’s first international-standard cricket ground, which opened in 2017.

From grassroots programmes introducing young players to the game to the national teams competing on the international stage, cricket is creating new opportunities for communities and aspiring players. The Cricket Builds Hope Cup (Rwanda Cricket Invitational) offers visiting teams the chance to experience Rwanda’s developing cricket culture first-hand, compete against local teams and support the continued growth of the game through community activities and a contribution towards the development of cricket infrastructure across the country.

Adventure in Rwanda

Beyond the cricket, Rwanda offers an incredible range of experiences to discover. Explore the vibrant city of Kigali, head into Akagera National Park in search of the Big Five, or discover Rwanda’s spectacular landscapes for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience. From wildlife and outdoor adventures to golf and discovering local culture, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your time in Rwanda.
